Nearly 43% of the millions of devices surveyed by asset management provider Lansweeper cannot be upgraded to Windows 11 due to the hardware requirements set by Microsoft for the operating system. Lansweeper data based on approximately 30 million Windows devices from 60,000 organizations reveals that, on average, only 57.26% of workstations are eligible to receive the automatic update, while the rest would not be eligible. Also, future Windows 11 updates are not guaranteed if you don’t meet the system requirements. At any rate, that’s according to a survey conducted by Lansweeper, an IT asset management solution that collects hardware and software information from computers and other devices on a computer network for the purposes of management, compliance and auditĪlthough Microsoft has changed its position, allowing anyone to manually install Windows 11 regardless of processor, an automatic upgrade is only possible if three critical components of the computer (the processor, RAM and TPM) meet the necessary requirements to carry out the update. About a year after the release of Windows 11, more than 42% of workstations cannot be upgraded to this operating system.
